A walk-through of the Diligent skill, version 0.1.0. It is a contracts-and-gate release with zero automated website checks.

Commands

Use /diligent <command> when slash commands exist. Otherwise treat the command word as an explicit instruction and follow the same files.

The ten phase commands
CommandRequired outcome
initIntake and service-brief templates; run record; discovery started
discoverProject, UI, resource, and authority context with evidence
scopeFacts and applicability resolved against a frozen authority lock; questions emitted
inventoryPermitted routes, templates, components, documents, vendors, and limits
planObligation, check, and instance matrix; review queue; sampling rationale
collectEvidence records with provenance, within budget and origin limits
assessResults and findings from supplied evidence; bounded review routing
proposeConstrained repair alternatives; never marked verified
verifyRetest on a changed snapshot by a context that did not write the repair
reportReadable rendering of the recorded assessment facts

The command line runs init, status, gate, report, and rules validate in 0.1.0. Every other command is an agent-performed phase guided by the skill’s reference files; the command line prints a clear “not executable in 0.1.0” message for them.

The default activity is a read-only audit. Applying code changes is a separate requested operation.

Artifact contract

All durable artifacts are workspace-relative and live under one audit id. Schemas live in schemas/. Machine artifacts use an explicit schema_version, UTC timestamps, stable ids, and documented enums.

Result states and the gate

Result states: pass, fail, needs_review, not_tested, blocked, error. Applicability: applicable, not_applicable, unknown, pending_effective_date. Overall: fail, incomplete, pass_for_declared_scope, not_applicable.

Gate exit codes: 0 pass for declared scope, 1 mandatory failure, 2 incomplete, 3 invalid configuration or execution failure.

Claim boundaries

Pick one mode. A source-only audit can finish while its regulatory assessment stays incomplete. Diligent produces a useful partial report when input is missing.

What each mode can and cannot establish
ModeMinimum inputCan concludeCannot establish alone
sourceRepository snapshotFacts from syntax and configuration; source leadsRendered behavior, deployed headers, approvals
pageAllowed URL and captured environmentObserved page and state resultsUnvisited routes, hidden states, whole-service compliance
journeyRoutes, roles, fixtures, transitionsResults for exercised task pathsUnobserved paths, organization-wide controls
documentsAuthorized policy and control artifactsWhat supplied records substantiateActual implementation from a policy assertion
combinedSelected modes and a coverage planMerged evidence with contradictions keptAnything outside the declared scope

Non-negotiables

Install

npx skills@latest add Simple-Cortex/diligent

Requires Node 20 or later for the command line helpers. By default this installs the root skill, diligent, which is the router. Source and manual install steps are on GitHub.

Supported checks

0 automated checks ship in Diligent 0.1.0. Every rule below is at the research lifecycle and none is published. A rule listed here is a cataloged obligation, not an executable test.

The full matrix of rules and channels is in docs/supported-checks.md in the repository. Known limits are tracked in docs/known-limitations.md.
